My crazy road to freedom
Formerly a police officer, today a company formation expert and expat

22 years serving the state
For 22 years I was a police officer. First in Berlin, then for more than 20 years in Hamburg. I worked night shifts in the red-light district, escorted HSV hooligans across Germany, kept St. Pauli fans in check at the stadium, secured nuclear waste transports and, in the end, served in a special unit.
That time taught me a lot. I got to see behind the scenes, met every part of society and was surrounded by people every single day.
I'm grateful for that. But I'm even more grateful for what I came to realise afterwards.

My aha moment
In 2020, when the coronavirus measures reached their peak, I began to question the life I was living. As a police officer and as a citizen, did I want to keep accepting whatever the government decided, ordered or banned?
A clear no took hold in me. Along with the realisation that, as a civil servant, I had locked myself in a golden cage. I had traded one of my most important values for security: freedom.
To make sense of it, I took unpaid leave for an indefinite period. At the time, I didn't yet know I would never return to my job.

No going back
For three years I built a new life. I took out private insurance, became self-employed and founded a holiday rental agency on the North Sea coast.
Together with my wife Svenja and our dog Eule, I moved to the island of Amrum. Waking up without an alarm, making plans for the future, long walks on the beach.
This new chapter gave me clarity. So much that one morning I resigned. For good, civil servant status and all.

My fresh start
The agency did well and freed up capital. I put it straight into founding Unendlich Frei and dug deep into everything about the US LLC.
Because I quickly saw the advantages of a US LLC for myself, moving abroad was only a small step. Before that, I sold the agency and some of my properties in Germany.
Here's how I live today.

How I live today
Today I guide freelancers and entrepreneurs with their US LLC and live completely location-independently. Ideally wherever the sun is shining; I spend a lot of time in Spain, Florida and Bali.
In 2025, Svenja and I built Villa Golden Pearl on Bali, which now welcomes expats and digital nomads for longer stays. My apartment in Panama is finished. Step by step, my property portfolio keeps growing.
Being a police officer now only lives in my memories. Today I help others make the most of their income. With an online business, so much more is possible than you think.
